Career Training Counts as Credits Toward College Degree -- Applied Management Degree at NAU Accepts Occupational Training
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 16, 2007 -- National American University (NAU), a fully accredited, four-year university granting degrees on the bachelor's, associate and master's levels, announced today that it will be offering its Applied Management degree on its newly established Austin campus. The Applied Management bachelor's and associate degrees allow students who received on-the-job training or occupational training at military service schools, technical institutes or community colleges to apply the hours of credit earned towards a bachelor's degree from NAU, a fully accredited, four-year university. National American University is one of a handful of higher education institutes offering the applied management degree in Texas.
Military and civil service servants, like firefighters and police officers, invest extensive hours in career training and are often stymied as they attempt to continue their career progress by seeking their degree. The Applied Management degree at NAU allows these applicants to apply their occupational training towards their college degree, shortening both the time and financial commitments involved.
"Students can often transfer in excess of 30 credits from non-traditional learning or specialized training into the Applied Management bachelor's of science program at NAU states," J.P. Foley, Regional Vice President of National American University, "which translates into major savings in time, effort and finances for our students."
NAU holds equivalent accreditation standards as state universities like The University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M, which are members of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. With its first campus and central administrative offices located in South Dakota, National American University is also regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
A National American University student recently wrote, "After serving in the military in the Republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, I earned my Applied Management degree from NAU which enabled me to find a superior position at home in the U.S. and to teach as an adjunct professor in criminal justice. Since the Applied Management degree gave me the ability to leverage my career training into course credits, the completion of my degree became doable."
With 66 years of academic expertise, National American University is able to adapt the accredited curriculum to meet the specific needs of its students, most of whom are working professionals returning for degree completion or a secondary degree. Quarterly scheduling, flexible learning formats, like accelerated and distance learning are combined with the personal attention expected at a private university -- to give students the edge they need to balance college coursework along with family and work demands.
National American University offers a wide-range of course offerings. At the new Austin campus, NAU will begin offering courses within the business, management and information technology degree programs initially and add additional programs, including an MBA degree and nursing programs, as the needs of the Austin market determine.
